• I’ve chosen a linen fit for both options, as linen has a lovely natural texture that takes focus away from conceived imperfections on the body. It also tends to flow and adapt with the natural shape of your body when worn throughout the day. This helps make the fit look more put together even at the end of the day.
• A relaxed fit in linen will look just as well after you lose weight (since you are trying), as they will fall naturally by your broader shoulders
• Weaves and fabrics like Oxford or poplin can end up looking bulky in certain places, leaving unflattering creases here and there, most likely bunching up in places where the body has more curves. This is why we don’t have those fabrics.
• Roll the sleeves up till your elbows or just above your elbows for both looks. Make sure to do so neatly. This will make the sleeves tighter, accentuating your arms, as it is one of your favorite body parts. The rest of the shirt will remain a relaxed fit.
• Since we are trying to camouflage a tummy, we don’t want to tuck in. Leave the hemline untucked – it will leave room for your tummy without drawing focus. Once again, this is why I haven’t chosen formal or Oxford shirts, as they will be longer and will have to be tucked in.
• We are avoiding waist accessories like belts, as they will draw attention to the waist.
• Choose to leave the first button of the shirts undone if you are comfortable. It will accentuate the “V” shape making your torso look smaller and balancing the rectangle shape
• Alter the pants to your liking for height and fit. Linen and Lyocell fabrics will provide a comfortable fit while adapting well to the natural shape of the body, so don’t worry about being uncomfortable.
